What's in a name? Poit Dhubh 12 Year Old whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Poit Dhubh 12 Year Old whiskey, rather than whisky.
Arrival is all Oloroso sherry with lovely toffee and dried fruits. The long finish is a blast of smokey peat. However, this is no Lagavulin 16 as the elements are not so well integrated, nor does it have Laga's complexity or age. However it is about £20 a bottle cheaper. Blended in the Isle of Skye may well include some Talisker. Bottled unchillfiltered at 43% it is a great find and very good value.
