Insider knowledge: Miyagikyo 1988 whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Japan. If distilled in America the spelling would be Miyagikyo 1988 whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Dry sherry wood, toffee apples, hints of under-ripe plum and maybe even a chocolate. Palate: Big on zesty malt and sweet spices with tiny hint of tangy mature cheddar in the background. Impeccable oak. Finish: Sweet, balanced oak lasts long into a barley driven finish.
