Interesting fact… Lochside 46 Year Old 1965 Single Blend (Adelphi) whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be Lochside 46 Year Old 1965 Single Blend (Adelphi) whiskey, instead of whisky.

Lochside 46 Bottling Note

This was distilled at the Lochside distillery in 1965. It was then filled into cask 6778 where it rested for the next 46 years before bottling by Adelphi in 2011. It was bottled at natural cask strength with an out-turn of 499 bottles. This is what's known as a "single blend", meaning it is a blend of both grain and malt whisky, unusually both distilled at the same distillery!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Berry fruits, conserves, toast, honey and rice pudding. Some cocoa, cherry liqueurs, smoked kippers, calves leather and coffee. Wow!

Palate: Fruity and very good indeed. Cherry liqueurs again, some aniseed, chamomile, chocolate and cut hay, alongside just a hint of forest floor, old leather bound books and apple peel.

Finish: Grassy, oily and quite malty. Just a hint of smoke and leather.
