Ledaig 1972 Bottling Note
A cask strength single malt from the Tobermory distillery, distilled in 1972 and finished in Oloroso sherry butts. Ledaig is the name for peated whisky from the distillery on Mull, the name is pronounced 'led-chigg' and Ledaig releases are always well-received.
The nose is quite full and rich. There is a gentle peat note with dry wood smoke and boiled sweets. Hints of estery fruits and menthol and iodine. The palate is quite smooth and well-balanced. There is a fullness and depth with notes of exotic fruit salad; guava and pineapple with hints of lemon marmalade and winter spice, ground ginger and cinnamon. The finish is of good length with winter spice.
