What's in a name? Lagavulin 12 Year Old (2008 Release) whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Lagavulin 12 Year Old (2008 Release) whiskey, rather than whisky.
The nose is fresh and crisp and excellent clarity. Notes of oily phenols and a rich coastal character. Hints of smoke and wood creep in with peat and a touch iodine. The palate is smoky and nutty with peppery spice and a touch of sweetness. The finish is long and tarry and quite acrid with notes of smoky oak.
The Master of Malt
Bottled luxury
This has got to one of the finest bottlings, I had the good fortune to lay hands on one this week and it has lived up to and beyond its expectations! The smoothest and silkiest of Islay malts.
