Kilchoman Sherry Cask Bottling Note

This is the first sherry matured whisky from Kilchoman, and despite being a mere five years of age it's a very characterful dram from an Islay distillery that's producing some wonderful whisky.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Soft peaty aromas and a blend of soft fruits and spice.

Palate: An initial malty sweetness is followed by soft peaty, wood smoke aromas, mixed fruits and spice - cloves, nutmeg raisins and prunes.

Finish: Long and clean with some smoke.

Overall: This has a character and a deep, smoky richness that belies its tender years.

This scotch has great personality. Whilst one can detect the youth of the scotch, the competition between the peaty smoke and sherry finish produces an interesting complexity that overcomes the age limitation. By far the best scotch I have ever tasted that is less than 10 years old.
