Description

Red Label is a classic blended whisky, first created in 1909. This blend from Johnnie Walker was rated 87.5 points, which shows this is great value for money.

Overall

The nose is quite pungent and full. There are notes of heather roots, cut herbs, a touch of fresh fruits and honey. The palate is quite full and rich. There are notes of malted barley and potpourri, a touch of winter spice and fruitcake. The finish is quite long and pungent, there is a good smoke note with a touch of oak.

Not my first choice but better than many

Fine for mixing , but not quite good enough to drink on its own , (unless you are already half sloshed) , not the worse budget whiskey.

who do people keep saying this is peaty? it just isnt. Dont confuse peat with utter swill, which this is

Awful stuff.

The worst whisky I've ever had, horrendous stuff. I'm guessing these peaty whiskies are an acquired taste. Definitely not for me.

A poor Dram

A product of it's own marketing - an inferior blend best served with a very generous dash of ginger beer, and preferably to someone else. For the money go with a nice Ben Riach or Glen Dronnach or even an adelphi blend. All are a much more enjoyable dram for a very small increase in price
