Highland Park 1977 Bottling Note

A lovely whisky with a very cool story behind it, here's a précis of it: Highland Park launched their first '77 Bicentenary in 1998 and it sold out immediately. The only bottles not sold were set aside for tasting and sampling and there were some of these stored in Japan. These bottles were all but forgotten about, until they were happened upon in 2008. They were brought back to Bonnie Scotland, where they were given a handsome oak box with Japanese lettering and an outline of the country to celebrate the whisky's Asian hiatus.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet, tangy and rich with heather honey, peat smoke, watermelon, cut grass and seaspray.

Palate: Yummy! Medium-bodied, but with a big dollop of honey, spicy oak notes, burning heather, toffee apples and cinnamon.

Finish: Good length, with rich, tangy spices on the tail.
