Insider knowledge: Glenrothes 9 Year Old 2004 - Hepburn's Choice (Langside) whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Glenrothes 9 Year Old 2004 - Hepburn's Choice (Langside) whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
This Glenrothes is a really great bottling. No hint of sulphur at all. Great balance, very rich, sherry and chocolate. The finish is also very lingering

Really looking forward to this one as I always enjoy Glenrothes which is a very underrated distillery I believe. However on first nosing I could detect the unmistakable whiff of the dreaded sulphur. The first and only taste confirmed this. It had that awful sulphur coating which has become a real threat to many sherry matured drams. It really was just awful and I did something I have never done before and simply poured out the bottle down the sink. A very expensive and disappointing choice.
