Glenrothes 40 Octave Bottling Note

A very tasty 40 year old Glenrothes from Duncan Taylor. This was aged in standard-sized casks for the majority of its maturation, then it was finished in small octave casks to add extra pep and spice. A very good whisky indeed!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A thick, rich nose that offers up peppermint, barley sugar, hints of cider, oak and toffee. Spicy and intense. Hints of rum, maybe molasses, some marmalade and a little note of butter.

Palate: Hints of toffee apple and mushroom, alongside black pepper, oak, rancio, malt and hickory. Very complex and intense.

Finish: Spiced and warming, some espresso, toffee, malt and citrus on the tail.
