Glenkinchie 1987 Amontillado Bottling Note
A fruity, sherried whisky from the Lowland distillery, Glenkinchie, self-proclaimed producers of 'The Edinburgh Malt'. This was distilled in 1987 and finished in an Amontillado sherry cask.
The nose is rich and fruity. There is a good barley sweetness with notes of vanilla spice and tannic oak. Hints of marmalade and sherried peels, sultanas and esters. The palate is rich and warming. There are notes of walnut and the oil thereof, ground ginger and spice with peppered oak and sherried peels. The finish is reasonably long with notes of nutty oak and a gentle pepperiness.
