Although Glenfarclas primarily use first and second fill sherry casks, occasionally we get to see the results of their glorious spirit being laid down in other types of cask too. Last year saw the release of a 43 year old whisky aged in cognac casks and now a 31 year old that has spent its entire maturation period in a single Portuguese port cask.
Sweet raisin-filled dark toffees, ginger, clove and honeycomb.
More ginger and toffee, nutmeg, dark spices and also kiwi fruit. Creamy wood notes running throughout.
Long, delightfully spicy and slightly fruity.
A fantastic, spicy take on a classic. Different and delicious.
