The Glendronach 12 Year Old Sauternes Cask Finish single malt is initially matured in European oak before being moved over to casks which previous held the sweet wine. The result is elegant and fruit-filled, with a good whack of vanilla at its core and pleasing oak spice on the mid-palate.

Great fresh fruits on the nose. Palate very full, a little off-balance with the acidity levels adding an unwelcome sharpness to the otherwise beautiful Stollen-esque cascade of almond, honey, raisin and apricot. Sauternes indeed, massive impact from the sweet wine - a Merry Christmas indeed! A very sweet and sharp finish, medium length but extremely pleasant.
