Clynelish hails from the town of Brora, a town famous for its rare namesake whisky Brora which was originally called Clynelish before the new distillery was built - very confusing indeed!
Double cream, lemon zest and grapes rise off the whisky to begin with followed by butter and sea salted caramel.
The mouth-feel is oily with rich coastal notes of thyme, salt and caramel.
The finish is reminiscent of white grape juice and gentle spices.
This is a fine whisky with subtle flavours woven into a bigger coastal character.
