Whisky or Whiskey

Insider knowledge: Breath of Islay 12 Year Old 1999 (Adelphi) whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Breath of Islay 12 Year Old 1999 (Adelphi) whiskey, as opposed to whisky.

Breath of Islay 12 Bottling Note

This "Breath of Islay" was distilled at a secret Islay distillery in 1999. It was aged for 12 years in cask 5877 and was bottled by Adelphi in 2011. A lovely whisky with an out-turn of 329 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Creamy and sweet with notes of vanilla and a thick core of cool wood smoke, old ropes, spice and sticking plasters. A classic Islay nose for sure!

Palate: Pine resin, smoke and ginger, notes of marmalade, burnt granary toast with butter, samphire and butterscotch. Quite a big dollop of peat too.

Finish: Good length with spices and peat smoke.

User Reviews of the Breath of Islay 12 Year Old 1999 (Adelphi)

Very good

By far one of the best Islay whiskies I've had! Still can't tell for sure where it's from...
