Insider knowledge: Bowmore 25 Year Old (Small Batch Release) whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Bowmore 25 Year Old (Small Batch Release) whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Dark fruits and coastal smokiness. Slightly herbal.
Palate: Characteristic peat smoke, cocoa and dry, creamy nuttiness.
Finish: Gentle smoke, oak, mocha, hints of prunes.
as luck would have it, my local bar was out of the Balvenie I ordered, and substituted a dram of this stuff for the same price. The smoothest scotch I've ever tasted--warm, spicy, soft, woody. Must save my pennies for another.
