Blair Athol
Scotland
Single Malt
A cask strength release from Diageo's Rare Malts range, bottled in April of 2003 after 27 years maturation. This single malt represents a great chance to own an older bottling from the Highland distillery, Blair Athol.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
The nose has good sweetness, there are citric notes with oily nuttiness developing, hazelnut and almond with allspice and creamy chocolate. There is more spice in the palate with crystallized ginger and oranges, steeped in honey. A supple peat hangs underneath with good malt. The finish is quite long, a nice smokiness develops with oak and a light acidity, then winter spice and stem ginger with dark chocolate.
