Benrinnes 14 Year Old 1998 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)
A belter of a Benrinnes - good, clean sherry - very nice indeed, thank you very much! Matured for 14 years in a single sherry butt and bottled at natural cask strength as part of Master of Malt's Single Cask range. The outturn from the butt was 570 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Warm spices, perhaps clove and nutmeg at the fore but soon overtaken by fruit and flowers. Apple, and perhaps even sweet lily. Lovely drying qualities from the Sherry butt are already coming through.
Palate
Massive, smack-in-the-face, really good-clean sherry. More fruit rounded out with biscuit notes and cooked sugars.
Finish
Lip smacking and deliciously drying. Rich flavours, toffee and dark chocolate linger but are cleaned with herbal and almost minty qualities.
Overall
Benrinnes never fails to delight, and this is no exception. Amazing value for a truly special dram for those who love a sherried Speysider.
