This is a rich and full-bodied BenRiach which was distilled in 1976. It was aged for 35 years in sherry butt number 6967. The result is a classic, rich Speyside whisky of the old school.
Plum brandy and hints of morello cherry. Toffee apples and cedar, a touch of allspice and potpourri.
Oak and soft spices with notes of sultanas and black pepper. Chocolate and tart citrus. Very intense with coffee developing.
Long finish with notes of lozenges and spice.

On the nose, I detected old leather first, and---yes, ok, there's that toffee apple thing coming through. Allspice. High tannins---hey it's 35 years old, and besides I love the tannins---spices, pepper, fruit. What a long finish! Wow, this is great stuff. It's also over $500 US. I bought a sample first. I suggest you do the same. Too much money to gamble with. And while really REALLY good, I'll bet I know many Scotches at $250 I'd rather have two bottles of!
