Insider knowledge: BenRiach Heredotus 12 Year Old (Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish) whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be BenRiach Heredotus 12 Year Old (Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish) whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Lots of firm peat. Malty, slightly smoky.
Palate: Soft. Supple pine with notes of Americano coffee, malty peat whirling throughout. Vanilla.
Finish: Dry, cereal notes, barley.
It can easily play in the same league as Ardbeg, Laphroaig and other Islay malts do... just you pay less. Incredible value for money, this is a top-notch smoky dram.

I would love to give this one star to ensure that there is more available when I come back but..... , share the love, this is a great dram. If this came out of a distillery that was 'known' you would be paying more. My favourite sherry/peat mix(second bottle).Only reason I dont give it a 10 is because the depth is lacking slightly, but to be fair its a 12yr at just over £30, I am going to change my rating to 10.

I'm not a sherry/peat man but this was a synchronised and pleasant marriage of the two. I would not hesitate for a second purchasing this.

Great whisky, could really play in a higher league. Has moments close in sensation to these of Ardbeg Uigedal. An achievement!!!

This is the one of all the whiskys you can talk about absolute world class for a fair price. /Andreas Ödén Gävle, Sweden
