Single Malt
Scotland

A 10 year old Highlander from the Balblair distillery in Edderton and bottled by Gordon and MacPhail. The Balblair distillery tends to produce whiskies that have character beyond their years and this is a shining example.
The nose is quite light, notes of dry wood and a gristy, cereal quality. Dried mixed peel and peppery cream and a little zest with dried apricots. The palate is quite herbaceous, a little winter spice perks things up nicely, with a woody dryness still in evidence. The finish is very woody, with a dryness, somewhat lacking in real substance, however, but the oak is not unpleasant.

Very good
A quality whisky, wonderful to taste as you look out your hotel window onto the sea and heavy, heavy rain. Made it all worthwhile.
