Whisky or Whiskey

What's in a name? Aultmore 1995 - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail) whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Aultmore 1995 - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail) whiskey, rather than whisky.

Aultmore 1995 Bottling Note

A 1995 'vintage' from the Connoisseurs Choice range from Gordon and MacPhail. This single malt was distilled at the Aultmore distillery in Keith, Speyside and is rather light, fresh and a well-balanced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Light yet well malted in the nose, citrus notes, particularly lemon with cereal notes. Something akin to a freshly baked cake, with its sweetness and mouth-watering allure. The palate is very sweet, sugary barley and more cereal notes. A very lovely malty feel, ripe fruit abound the mouth feel and into the finish, which is of medium length, quite dry, with a faint barley and a gentle mocchaccino.

User Reviews of the Aultmore 1995 - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail)

Rating (1.5) Chris

A fresh, citrus nose with no shortage of bubblegum oak. Quite alcoholic with a touch of honey and a pleasantly floral nuance. The palate is much like the nose, light, grassy and citrusy, a bit woody on the middle and the alcohol is very intrusive even at 43%. Slightly gristy with hints of barley and a very hot finish. I don’t normally put a drop of water with a 43%’er but I thought it might mitigate the intrusive alcohol, which it does but it becomes horribly sweet, sugary and sloppy!
