    Ardbeg Supernova 2010 (SN2010) - Committee Release

One of the most exciting whisky releases from 2010! The 2010 edition of Supernova, stronger, more pungent in flavour, and more earthy than the previous year's release.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Very punchy and full bodied, huge in fact, just an enormous array of flavour with notes of espresso, berry fruits, huge chilli flavours, black pepper, agave, mescal, then dried fruit, hints of tar.

    Palate

Hot spices, chilli, more black pepper. This is an epic whisky, with flavours of calves leather, cigars, with a peat whack the likes of which we've never come across before. Despite the fact this is less peaty in terms of phenols than Octomore 2, it just seems more powerful. Espresso, hints of chocolate, anise, pine resin. It goes on and on and develops.

    Finish

Builds on the palate flavours, it has this huge chilli flavour, and all the heat and spice that comes with it. Hot tar, creosote, dry ropes, vanilla.

    A Punch in the Nose

A very big inital punch on the nose but after about 15min the complexity of this scotch is quite outstanding. Huge peat, (but not as much as Octomore), smokey, tar, pepper, earthy, with slight overtones of wild berry. I prefer this over the 2009 since it is more complex and less predictable. Get it while you can!
