Yeah look at the label
Yeah but it's a 1.5 litre bottle, not the smaller one we buy in shops!

This is the "new flavour" and is absolute rubbish.
I agree. DO NOT BUY THIS!

Not the same
dont buy the new stuff!
No where near as nice as the old recipe, no idea why they changed it but it's not worth the extra cash anymore- save yourself some money and just buy a cheaper bottle as there's nothing special about this anymore.

I agree, the old recipe had vanilla & lime and was gorgeous!! This one just tastes like watered down morgans spiced :(

Do not buy this stuff
Eeeuw! not like the old recipe. this tastes off.
wont buy it anymore unless they make the original again.
19th May 2010
The old recipe was better, if you're going to buy this, you may as well buy morgans spiced as its cheaper and nicer.
9th June 2010

Hate new recipe!

DO NOT BUY
Don't care what they say - they did NOT canvass regular users. The new recipe is bland - no better than standard rum. Lost a whole family of rum drinkers.

The new recipe has completely spoilt a very popular rum which was beautiful to drink!!! Can't believe that people at Sailor Jerry's think the new recipe is nicer! Don't waste your money, and buy something like Morgan's Spiced or head to eBay and buy a bottle of the old recipe!

Been on Morgans spiced since they absolutely screwed up Jerrys--not a happy chappy---Ive witnessed the way the young ones were drinking it more and more, whilst working in Leeds, not the case now, some drinks experts were actually suggesting it would become more popular than Vodka, I dare say it will survive, but they will not get the sales that the last recipe would have assuredly achieved.

this stuff is disgraceful-I have emailed the company loads of times about bringing back the original recipe but got no reply or standard automated replies. They should never have tampered with it-if it's not broken, why fix it?And they say they carried out taste tests throughout the UK-I don't for a minute believe that-why anyone would choose this crap over a perfectly gorgeous drink is beyond me.Myself,my friends and anyone I know, have boycotted this abomination...perhaps their falling sales figures might make them reconsider!Everyone spread the word and boycott this recipe!

I have not tasted the old recipe, yet so that I was able to judge it before I have tried the so hyped good ol' stuff.
What I can tell is that this is the best spiced rum I ever had! It's smell is so nice and it goes down that smooth, it is just unbelievable.
The only thing I have to criticize is it's price, compared to the 0,7 bottle. This is just insane but known from other brands as well. Therefore only 8/10.
Buy this stuff and don't believe the hype ;)
The new recipe was created for the American market, much to the annoyance of every other country it seems. Don't bother buying this new version as you are better of with Morgans Spiced instead, it's much more palatable. However if you search on eBay you can still get the old recipe for around £70 for a 1.5ltr bottle - well worth it in my opinion as the "original" original recipe is the smoothest rum I have ever had the pleasure of drinking.
