Mezan Trinidad 1991 Bottling Note
This was distilled at the Caroni distillery in Trinidad in 1991. There were once 50 distilleries on the island, though by 1950 there were just 8, and today there is only one: Angostura. The Caroni distillery was established in 1918, and it operated until 1993. This particular rum was column distilled, and it was aged in small oak barrels before bottling by Mezan.
Very drinkable rum
Golden syrup colour, treacly legs. Rich but indistinct nose. Woody and sweet. The taste is something else - almost no burn, all sweetness. Coffee and chocolate. With water the nose changes to butterscotch, the taste becomes milky. Very drinkable.

Very drinkable rum, recommend straight. Amber colour with a pungently sweet nose. Taste is very smooth - no burn at all with a sweet, woody taste with hints of sweet tobacco and charcoal. Not too dissimilar in taste to Dalwhinnie young single malt.

sweet but thin
this was to me sadly a disapointing one, have tried 2 different 15yo Caroni's which was awesome but this one didn't live up to my expectations!

Smooth, pleasant. If I took price into consideration, I would have rated it higher. (If you pay 3 times as much you are likely to get something better.)
