La Grand Année 2002 Bottling Note
This is the Bollinger Grande Annee from the excellent 2002 Champagne vintage, the Grande Annee is only made in exceptional years, and it is easy to see why. The blend of grapes is 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay and has been aged for a minimum of five years.
Here is Madame Bollinger's reasons for drinking this fine Champagne:
"I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it when I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty of course."
Green apples followed by light citrus and toasty notes. The bubbles are suitably fine and the flavour profile rich. A grand champagne indeed!
