Yoichi
Yoichi 10 Year Old 70cl Whisky
Customer Rating
“I'm a fond whisky drinker. This is how whisky should taste like: smooth, yet with an enormous depth. It starts with the nose, which is complex and round. Take your time to nose it to the full extent. Then, the nip/sip. Its taste lingers and lingers, with delightfull fruitfulness, a smokeyness that doesn't overwhelm and a palate that is powerful but very ballanced. this is one of the best whisky's I've ever tasted.”

Description
Unavailable for 7 years even in Japan, age statement Yoichi has made an exciting return (in sadly small quantities at this stage) to these shores! The jewel in Nikka's crown, this is traditionally made, well-crafted Japanese single malt (direct-fired stills, worm tubs, proprietary yeasts, wooden washbacks) with real clarity, and notes of vanilla, fruit, some peat smoke, and a salty edge.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Plenty of fruit notes - peach stands out in particular, ripe, vibrant and subtly floral. Then there's rich vanilla custard, peat smoke and a hint of nutmeg spice.
Palate
Oily and sweet, with peat smoke following swiftly afterwards. Light oak and developing fruit notes beneath.
Finish
Appealing oak lasts on the finish.
