Whisky or Whiskey

Insider knowledge: J&B Rare whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be J&B Rare whiskey, as opposed to whisky.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is of medium-body with a distinct nutty note. There are hints of fruit and dry wood, a citrus character and a little barley. The palate is of medium-body with good balance. There are notes of berry fruits, hints of cut fruit salad and caramel. The finish is quite short with a touch of oak and spice.

User Reviews of the J&B Rare

Not bad... not bad

as i write this i am sipping this delightful concoction. J&B have made a very smooth drink for those with a balanced palet. For the money i paid this hastruly surprised me, after some bad choices in the past....Grants scotch whisky to name one. I would rate this up with Teachers highland cream as one of the best blended Scotches for ones money. Buy and enjoy...Responsibly!!!

Truely

Truely the best scotch on the market, as in this is not a malt fantastic as a long drink with a mixer or truely delicious on it's own and I don't like scotch!!!

J & B Rare

Very good for the price. People who like to drink Scotch frequently but want to economies of every day things.

premier leugue scotch for a football league price

Reasonable price for a great blended scotch. Great drink that does not kick your head the day after.

I wouldn't buy it, but it's not that bad

It's bad as far as whiskey goes, but it's still better then most blends out there(J Walker, Ballantines) I would go for Vat 69 or Grant's FR. but beside those it's the best in it's price range

Brandin

Why pay more for less? This is a good quality Scotch and personally feel if you pay a premium for a single malt your are being foolish. Comparable in quality (not flavor) to Dewars.

yuck

Even cheap Cluny is better.

stay true!

This one is an old classic of a blend; as long as they don't go crazy with the caramel colouring!! J and B Rare should be crisp and fresh. Whats that old sayin'?..Oh, yeah, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it."

Good whiskey

OK. It's not one tasting like an ash tray or smoked dirt. It's a light tasting scotch. It tastes good. I can't for the life of me think why it gets such a bad rap. It is not overpowering or harsh. It goes down smoothly and has a floral note to the taste. Not a long finish but it's good.

Great straight

A petite scotch. If you like overpowering smokiness this isn't for you. It is for those liking a good tasting whiskey that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. In this price range you can't beat it.

J&B Rare

This is a good blend, basically its like a slightly better, more refined version of Bells.
