Whisky or Whiskey

Insider knowledge: Ardbeg Supernova 2010 (SN2010) 2nd release whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Ardbeg Supernova 2010 (SN2010) 2nd release whiskey, as opposed to whisky.

Quite possibly the most exciting new whisky release for 2010! This is the brand new Supernova, stronger, more pungent in flavour, and more earthy than last year's Supernova - which Jim Murray ...more

Reviews of the Ardbeg Supernova 2010 (SN2010) 2nd release

Ardbeg Supernova 2010

I have my bottle on the way to me and can't wait. These tasting notes for Ardbeg Supernova 2010 are excellent and the whisky sounds right up my street!

Better than the first release

Rating (4.5)

I know most people prefer the 1st release, but I actually like this one better. It's a lot cheaper than the other one to boot!

Wow!

Rating (4)

With leather and tar as pronounced as they are, not to mention the 60% alcohol content of this baby, it is one smooth operator. I have to say, this is not my taste for an evening bottle, but I surely enjoyed my one drink.

A Punch in the Nose

Rating (4.5)

A very big inital punch on the nose but after about 15min the complexity of this scotch is quite outstanding. Huge peat, (but not as much as Octomore), smokey, tar, pepper, earthy, with slight overtones of wild berry. I prefer this over the 2009 since it is more complex and less predictable. Get it while you can!

2nd Release Tops

Rating (3)

much better than first relase. younger but more intense. And half the price.
