Winner of The Gleneagles Competition!

by Sam Smith     6. November 2013 10:57

Dapper dolphin

There are people who are born winners. Other people become winners. Some people are born as dolphins, which means that they aren’t actually people at all. We’re not concerned about dolphins today (although we should all help save them from extinction!).

No, today it’s all about the lucky winner of our rather marvellous Gleneagles competition!

New Boutique-y Whiskies; Allt-á-Bhainne, Glen Keith, and Miltonduff

by Ben Ellefsen     1. October 2013 13:11

That Boutique-y Whisky Company Miltonduff, Glen Keith and Allt-a-Bhainne

Well it’s certainly been quite a while since we put out any new Boutique-y whiskies. Over 3 months in fact. Erm. Sorry about that. Will try and be more hyperactive in the future. Promise.

After a clutch of slightly more esoteric ideas in the last set of releases, we’re coming firmly back to the ‘whisky world’ with these three, each one featuring some of our compadres from the geeky, obsessive, and at times slightly worrying world we all inhabit.

Ballantine’s 12 Year Old Trip – Part Two

by Ben Ellefsen     19. September 2013 11:48

Ballantines helmet

So – with the distillery tour over and done with, it was time to move onto the main event; that which we had all been invited along to see. The deconstruction of Ballantine's 12 Year Old.

Before we get into all that though, I’d like everyone to take a second to behold the image below:

Ballantine's 12 Year Old Trip - Part one

by Ben Ellefsen     17. September 2013 15:23

Ballantines selection

Okay. I’ll start here with an apology. This is possibly the most overdue blog post in the history of man (except my review of Dead Rabbit NYC, that’s more overdue). Things have happened since then, y’see. Things involving setting up new and exciting drinks distribution companies, developing a whole mess of new products, and the introduction of a mini sleep-terrorist into my house. These things have precluded me from doing what I should have done ages ago. The last one has also probably precluded me from spelling any words in this post correctly or being sure if my hands are, in fact, my hands. If you’re reading this, Ballantine’s-press-folk, you can have one free shot next time I see you, subject to the normal rules of course*.

John Walker & Sons Voyager Competition

by Jake Mountain     20. June 2013 14:37

John Walker and Sons Voyager

Ever fancied attending a glamorous party aboard a luxurious 1920s-style yacht? How about a star-studded shindig on an opulent 157 foot vessel with live entertainment thrown in? (I’ll give you a clue: the answer is “Yes”. Possibly “Hell yes”.)

Well... HERE’S YOUR CHANCE!!!

That’s right, we’ve come up with the goods again and one lucky person will be winning a pair of tickets to attend the The Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve Celebration in London on 17th July 2013 aboard the John Walker & Sons Voyager. That’s Ka-Blamo!

Dramboree Competition Winners!

by Jake Mountain     18. June 2013 15:39

Dog in People Clothes

Last week we ran a Competition to win a pair of tickets to Dramboree, a brand new whisky weekend, which is to be held in Aberfeldy from 5th – 7th of July this year.

To enter, we asked you to come up with the best picture of a dog in people clothes you could possibly find and then post it on our Facebook page! (Oh, and to Like our Facebook page too, but I’m sure you’ve all already done that... Right?)

The entries came flooding in! Whole packs of them, by the kennel-load. A veritable litter of entries. Although I left the judging to MoM’s resident poochie experts, I can now reveal the winners (we felt it was only fair to give out a couple of prizes for some honourable mentions too)...

North British, Dailuaine, Auchroisk, Tomintoul, Glen Moray That Boutique-y Whisky Company

Would you believe it's been over a quarter of a year since the last batch of releases from That Boutique-y Whisky Company? Amazing. It's almost like we had other stuff on.

Well – all that 'being about the place' nonsense is behind us now (for a bit), and due to a freshly sustained ankle injury (The other one for those of you paying attention. Gah) I'm at liberty to take a few moments to tell you about the new releases which sit before me today.

Feis Ile 2013: The Islay Whisky Roundup!

by Jake Mountain     6. June 2013 09:34

Feis Ile 2013 map

It's fair to say that Feis Ile aka That Boutique-y Whisky Company On Tour 2013 was a rip-roaring success! Enjoyment was had by all, 3 fantastic Competitions were run and entered into with rabid enthusiasm. And nobody died, either! Great success.

From our Distillery Dog Peaty getting lost (and getting found again) to our Message in a Bottle Islay Treasure Hunt, to loads of you literally flagging us down with the signal, you (yes, you) all made this our best Fèis Ìle yet! We’re already hard at work planning next year’s shenannigans...

Feis Ile 2013: Day 3 (Caol Ila) - Caol-Itos, Way

by Jake Mountain     28. May 2013 13:17

Monopoly Islay

The day ended with a game of Islay-opoly where three people landed on Caol Ila at the same time at one point (apt).

That morning we had headed over to Port Askaig, to that very distillery, to continue the search for our lost dog Peaty...

Have you seen him?

Feis Ile 2013: Day 2 (Bruichladdich) - Magnum

by Jake Mountain     27. May 2013 13:18

Bruichladdich Magnum

Bruichladdich Day had a Hawaii Five-O theme, with Laddie Five-O celebrating Jim McEwan’s 50th year in the whisky business! A themed day! Fantastic, let’s get involved!

Now, how does one go about dressing as Hawaii Five-O?... 1970s suits?... It struck us that there was another Hawaii-based investigator with a fantastic theme tune who would provide some much more satisfying fancy dress...
