The 2009 vintage of the signature wine from the Numanthia estate in North-Western Spain. A highly celebrated expression made with Tempranillo grapes. It ages for 18 months in French oak Bordeaux style barrels, resulting in a wine with remarkable balance and structure.
Nose: Juicy, jammy figs, blackcurrants and fresh pastry. Slightly nutty, with an undercurrent of cracked black pepper.
Palate: Brilliantly meaty with well ripened tannins and big, bold fruit notes.
Finish: Warm tobacco notes last on the finish.
Overall: Hugely impressive. Pair it with a good meaty meal and some strong cheese afterwards.
