Morton Estate Coniglio Chardonnay 2002

Morton Estate Coniglio Bottling Note

An absolutely breathtaking Chardonnay from Morton Estate; at the Decanter World Wine Awards this was hailed as the Best Chardonnay over £10, two years running! We tried this at a Riedel glassware tasting and were completely blown away by it.

Morton Estate produces this cracking Coniglio Chardonnay by maturing it on the lees in new French oak barriques. It undergoes partial malolactic fermentation to add even more complexity and finesse. This is a full bodied wine that will age incredibly.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Very complex with a delivery of Autumnal fruits, melted butter, oak and cashew nuts.

Palate: Big, big, big on the oak and all the flavour that comes with it; this is a buttery, biscuity wine with loads of vanilla sweetness, nutty notes and fruit. In fact, toast. Toast, toast, toast - just a huge hit of toast, buttered with just a hint of marmite. Toast! We’ve never had a Chardonnay like this before – just unbelievably good!

Finish: Creamy, voluptuous and velvety.Comment: Toast!
