This is a Brunello di Montalcino from Il Poggione. Brunellos are made using the Sangiovese grape variety and make for great wines to compliment meals with big meaty flavours. The 2004 vintage should still be drinking twenty years on.
Rich and warm cherry aromas join a palate with great acidity and tart berry fruit flavours. The tannins are ripe and lead into a finish of pleasingly sour berry fruits. This is a fantastic wine that can be laid down for a number of years.
