Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Classic peppery warmth, with rye bread, rosemary and honeycomb in support.

Palate: Well-rounded caramel, cherry and mint notes, with a bit of buttery vanilla underneath. Clove, peppercorn and caraway develop.

Finish: A flash of ginger and clove once again.

WhistlePig 10 Year Old Single Barrel Rye (cask 72181) Reviews

Get it while you can

Hands down the best American rye whiskey I’ve ever had. The usual bourbon notes of caramel and vanilla are there but turned right up to 11, then you get the rye kick with that lovely spiciness. The rosemary and herby note is subtle but is definitely there if you look hard enough. For such a high ABV this went down so easy.

Money well spent

This was first experience with a Rye Whiskey so I don't want to go overboard about breaking it down. My son had a bottle. It is definitely a sipping whiskey. Went well with a fire pit and good cigar on Christmas eve. I pick up a bottle Saturday. I think the taste notes a above are spot on with one exception I would swop out Cheery with Orange
