Waterford Micro Cuvée - Lómhar

Waterford Lómhar Bottling Note

A marvellous Irish single malt whisky here from the Waterford Distillery, created by master distiller Ned at the request of Waterford CEO Mark Reynier for a "winter warmer" to be made. It's built with a combination of 10 single farm origin distillates (Waterford has put a big focus on making whisky from barley sourced from individual farms to explore its terroir - check out its Single Farm Origin expressions, they're great), along with a spirit distilled with barley from six growers, and a portion of spirit from its Pilgrimage release.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Red berries and chocolate-coated nuts, with a helping of fruitcake on the side. A touch of cut grass and hay develops later on.

Palate: Sultanas, dried cranberries, clove, ginger and caramel.

Finish: More chocolate here, with perhaps a hint of milky coffee. Earthy barley sneaks through, too.
