Writers Tears Copper Pot Bottling Note

Writers Tears is a light, sweet Irish whiskey made using a mix of single pot still and single malt whiskeys, resulting in oodles of honey'd, fruity notes. Wonderfully easy to drink, it would make for a great introduction to Irish whiskey for folks new to the spirit. No writers were harmed in the making of this whiskey.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Soft and sweet with thick honey spread on granary toast. Hints of citrus peels.

Palate: Honey develops on the palate. Mellow notes of vanilla and golden malt. Green apple skin, caramel and a hint of oak.

Finish: Warming, sweet and long.

Overall: Very yummy Irish whiskey indeed.

Writers Tears Copper Pot Irish Whiskey Reviews

simply excellent, evokes earlier days of Irish whisky manufacture

This is a mild-mannered gentle and tasty brew. Very tasty.
It will appeal greatly to non-lovers of peat and gasoline. Handy
to have in the drinks cupboard as will not go wrong with any palette
you are likely to invite around.

Highly potable Irish whiskey

Impressed by this Irish whisky. I’m a big fan of Speyside and Islay scotches. This is a lovely, smooth alternative. I smelt orange from the bottle, but I’m told now that it’s Apple...

Superbly smooth and tasty blend

I really like this one, it's as smooth as it is tasty. Very easy to drink. I can taste a lot of apple and honey in this, but there's no excessive sweetness that could ruin the blend. My local supplier specified that this blend is 60% malt and 40% copper pot still. I will definitely be buying more for myself and as gifts. This is now my favourite Irish blend in this price range. Previous fav was Tullamore XO Rum Cask, but Tears is a decidedly better blend.

This is quite disappointing. The only nose I could get was alcohol. The taste is OK but just OK and certainly not worth the price tag. I would say there are better blended whiskeys than this.

Love it! Smooth, malty taste! Not harsh like some whiskey.

Something worth a tasting

Started getting this as a birthday present many years ago to sit in with my copious collection of Highland and Speyside malts. Thoroughly enjoying the taste of my Irish addition.

Krokant is delicious

After an exhausting pooling adventure with tropical temperatures, this whiskey made us forget all of our sweaty endeavours whilst sending us into a honey-based heaven. Truly remarkable in its easiness.

Smooth, sweet, easy drinker

As someone who doesn't like to set my Whisky foot outside of Speyside too often, I only tried this as it was a freebie, believe it or not, with a Drinks club I joined. Not ashamed to say it absolutely lovely and proof that there is life outside of Speyside... Just don't leave too often 😀

Don’t read anymore reviews go and buy it

New in this whisky world but I know what I like and this is it. Highly recommend to anyone trying to enjoy a glass or two

Wonderful sipping whiskey

At 63 and having sampled many whiskey’s from both Ireland and Scotland this is my absolute favourite, mellow and sweet. Am I alone in detecting a very slight hint of liquorice on the nose. Very drinkable sipping whiskey.
