Released to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of King James IV's coronation, a light, affable single malt from the Tullibardine distillery, distilled in 1988.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
The nose is of medium-body and very smooth. There are notes of custard and toffee, caramel and vanilla cream with a touch of dried fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and supple. There is a solid barley sugar sweetness with notes of caramel and vanilla fudge with notes of marzipan. The finish long and sweet with an oily note.
Received a bottle of this on my 21st birthday (I was born in 1988). Managed to save it for special occasions throughout my twenties, it was such a shame when finally finished! The best single malt I have ever had the pleasure to taste (and probably the best i will ever taste)! It was so smooth, with a lovely lingering finish.
My late dad's favourite whisky, I still have the last two empty bottles in their boxes, one with half a dozen drams left in it. I have never found a smoother finer epitomy of the perfect malt. Five stars is not enough!
I had this in 2002 and I still remember how wonderful it was. The best/smoothest whisky I have ever tasted
