A gentle 10 year old from the Speyside distillery, Tomintoul, matured exclusively in American oak bourbon barrels. Tomintoul 10 Year Old was introduced to the range in 2002, two years after the distillery was bought by Angus Dundee, and has been awarded gold medals for its taste by some of the most prestigious spirits competitions in the world.
Medium-body and well-balanced. There are notes of vanilla fudge and barley. Tones of malt extract and espresso, hints of mochaccino and oak.
Pleasingly viscous, with notes of barley sugar, toasty cereals, acacia honey and malt extract. Honeycomb, toffee and a touch of vanilla fudge.
Quite short, yet charming.
Nice nose of vanilla, with a touch of orange peel, smokeless. On the palate, cereal, with a slightly citrus, with a nice mouthfeel of oils, medium finish of barley
Just tasted a series of 5 samples over different evenings: Tomintoul, Glencadam, Arran, Penderyn Legend, The Ileach. Rated them in that order. A few drops of Tomintoul provided a delicious, smooth effect - beautiful aroma, taste, and very mellow. The Ileach was a big disappointment - very harsh. The word 'creosote' was exchnaged between my wife and I...
There are much better Speyside whiskies at the price point in my opinion. Nose: harsh, sweet, citrus, fudge. Palatte: watery (direct opposite to MoM tasting note) and mellow. Finish: very short with no burn.
Very nice, harsher than I expected at first but a smooth caramel finish. On the nose it’s very much fudge and caramel.
Absolutely delightful
