Tomatin 25 Year Old 1988 - Batch 1

Tomatin 25YO 1988 Bottling Note

A well-aged expansion to Tomatin's core range, the 1988 vintage single malt Scotch whisky is created from a mixture of bourbon barrel and Port pipe-matured whiskies, which slumbered in their casks for over 25 years. Top work from the Tomatin distillery in the Highlands.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Jammy and sweet up front, hints of strawberries and fresh melon. Ginger and oak warmth. Good hit of sugary vanilla in there too, and maybe a bit of smoke.

Palate: Mouth-coating and rich, plenty of cake-y vanilla and honey. Stone fruit, white pepper and once again the smoke wafts in.

Finish: Long and honey'd. Final splash of fresh fruits.

Overall: The Port pipes have had quite an affect on this one, and goes very well with the classic Highland notes.

Reviews for Tomatin 25 Year Old 1988 - Batch 1
The gentler Tomatin
Listed as "at least 25 years," this old single malt appears to be a good value. Gentle nose with light oak and strawberries, leading to a fruity, soft body. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel, even at 46%, followed by a short finish.
