From a brand whose distillery is actually in the Titanic Pump-House, the very site where the fabled ship was built in Belfast. Its signature bottling is a blend of Irish grain whiskey, triple-distilled malt, and peated spirit to create a well-rounded, versatile bottling that will taste good neat but can also be mixed with the best of them.
Dry smoke whisps through pear drop sweetness and oaky vanilla.
Gentle on the palate, with plenty of honeyed grainy goodness, grassy peat, and some sweet gingery spice.
Pears and peat.
$31.87 - $56.78
I bought this whiskey after watching the BBC TV programme about the docks & the distillery & thought I'd give the whiskey a try. On the first couple of sips you get the peppery, smokey & peaty flavours coming through which reminded me of a Scottish Whisky which I forget the name. After your palate gets used to those initial flavours the whiskey in my mind then mellows out & becomes very smooth & creamy. I am very pleased with the whiskey & I've already ordered my 2nd bottle. Recommended ?
Surprisingly good with slight smokiness
First sip gives a good Peat Smokeyness with a sweet honey tone to it. Looking forward to the rest of the bottle
Disappointed- they tried too hard with the peat flavour, it tastes a little musty rather than peaty to my palette. Obviously I drank it anyway!
Creamy, smooth, sweet, VERY drinkable. Lacks the finish and punch of an older AS dram, but for the price it's a good Irish grain. The peat -such as it has- is VERY subtle, I'd even go so far as to say it could be a good 'peat trainer' dram!
