The Woodsman

The Woodsman is a blended Scotch whisky from Whyte & Mackay (owners of Dalmore, Fettercairn, Jura and Tamnavulin), designed for use in cocktails and mixed drinks. Particularly oak-y, as you might expect from the name, with plenty of vanilla and nutty malt notes in tow. Nothing to do with Justin Timberlake's album Man of the Woods.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sandalwood, honey, almond slices and sawdust.

Palate Creamy vanilla, ginger root, slight grain sweetness.

Finish A touch of smoke underneath spearmint and cinnamon.

A packet of Werther's Original and Aldi 8yo blended would save you money even at the discounted price and give more flavour options.
Bought it on offer in Sainsbury's (Nectar card price £18 instead of £28) on impulse.

Lots of caramel (subtle at the beginning but becoming much stronger as it sits on the palate.)

Leaves an aftertaste very very similar to that of a Werther's Original.

Adding a little water brings this out even more.

Not unpleasant and reasonable value at £18, at £28 there's much better out there.

Gorgeous delicious smooth whiskey
This is One of the nicest blended whiskeys iv ever tasted! one of my favourites hands down, bought for £18 bargain, and for £28 full price for a 70cl bottle you can expect quality for that such high price, it is very pleasant, tasty and smooth and goes down very well! A true gem, Highly recommended

Nice sweet woody oaky dram.
Bought on a offer £18. Not bad for price. Loads of vanilla and honey notes of sweetness probably due to the re- charring of the cask. Medium finish of Spicy notes like the ginger and cinnamon as described.

Smooth & Creamy not overly Strong.
Surprised, it was a gift and thought it would be cheap rubbish, but it is smooth and creamy not overly strong, very easy to drink. Happily drink it on its own, but great with Ginger Ale. Would definitely buy another bottle for the cupboard

Good price but will give it a miss next time.
Bit short on flavour. Usually take it in morning coffee to keep away the winter cold. Prefer single malts to be candid.

Comfortable chair,good book and s dram or two of Woosdman
Tried Woodsman but find the description it was designed for Cocktails very misleading.
This particular whisky is in many respects far superior to brands that have led the market for decades.
Slightly sweet and ideal in the evening with a good book.
Highly recommended.
