A 12 year old from The Speyside distillery, a classically styled Speysider.
The nose is of medium-body with a superb balance. There are notes of peppermint, cut herbs and cereal sugars with juicy barley. The palate is medium-bodied with notes of barley and cereals, some cut herbs and a menthol note with developing oak. The finish is of good length with a touch of warmth.
Incredibly smooth single malt, best drank straight up no need for ice, lovely warmth no harsh burn which is difficult to find in this price range.
I discovered this while touring Northern Scotland last Summer. Of all of the Malts I sampled this is the smoothest one and very morish! Having dropped a few hints I received a bottle for Christmas and its great served over ice. Think I'll need another one soon.
Just a wonderful scotch for the price - reminded me of Highland Park - I think it is the best scotch bang for the buck I have come across in along time, just a perfect 10.
A superb single malt from the river Spey! Best straight up or "on the rocks"! A tasty whiskey with a hint of vanilla. I know it is a sin too do so, I drink Speyside single malt "on ice" and cherish ever sip! Sadly, Speyside 12 year old Scotch Whiskey is not available in the Chicago Illinois area. This is a wonderful scotch that I enjoyed I could not get enough of. I hope there is more coming. For the price you can't beat it.
