Originally released for the Taiwanese market, this is Macallan Aera, a no age statement single malt matured in predominantly in sherry-seasoned oak casks. After its maturation, it was bottled up at 40% ABV in this rather striking black bottle.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
wonderful dram, lovely taste of fruit and honey. A lovely smooth dram if you like whisky try now before it goes up in price
My review was genuine, I live in Taiwan and when the Aera was released my local liquor store was giving away samples. For me it offered nothing extra compared to the 12yr Macallan expressions except the price tag which was double. It is now listed as 6-7 times the price which is absurd! It is not even worth a fraction of that. Buy it if you want, but don’t bullshit about how amazing it tastes to try and maintain your investments value. It is bang average with one of the most ludicrous price tags I’ve ever seen.
Absolutely delightful dram. Fruity, honey, chocolatey. The first two reviews were fakes. MOM should really ban such fake reviews from people who clearly has not tried the whisky.
Having tried this whisky last week I can’t quite believe the previous reviews are genuine. I found this to be a wonderful, complex dram. The classic macallan sherry was in evidence but alongside a great burst of berries on the palate. As for the finish it gave way to a cracking long vanilla flavour. The great thing about whisky is that everyone sees & tastes things differently. There’s no right or wrong. For me this was outstanding.
Agree, you are drinking its marketing, it is famous Macallan, haven't bought any Macallan for a long time.
