Macallan 1861 Replica

Macallan 1861 Replica Bottling Note

This rare bottling was the second release in Macallan's 'Replica' series, produced in 2001. An awesome piece for collectors, whisky historians and antiques enthusiasts.

Please be aware: The accompanying booklet suggests that the bottle has been deliberately distressed somewhat. However, there are a few marks on the bottle label and presentation box which we're not 100% sure were originally intended.

Macallan 1861 Replica Reviews

There is only this one

I've had this one bottle for about 10 years. He owns a treasure and I probably won't open it. Just the sight of this bottle makes me happy. A piece of Scottish history, this bottle was made a landmark by Macallan.

Perfectly Said Already "Fine, Rare and Delicious"

I was VERY surprised by the Dark Rich Caramel color.. And the subsequent nose and flavor are of caramel, wood and spices. VERY nice. I am impressed and happy. I bought it new and was ACTUALLY loathe to open it knowing the prices today, HOWEVER, I am glad I did. I would have missed out!

Fine, rare and delicious

A dear friend, now deceased, gave me one of these many years ago. I’ve drunk most of it, the contents are superb - medium brown colour, great depth of flavour, medium sweet and reminiscent of chocolate, nuts and spices. A good thing I never researched the price as I’d have been loath to broach it, but I think of the Dubit whenever I see the attractive, antiqued bottle. Wherever you are, Mike, cheers to you!

Regrettably an "un-replicated" bottle. Compared to the illustration shown on the carton, this new version barely resembles the 1861 edition. Firstly, the old version would have been in a pint or most probable, quart bottle - not 70cl. Secondly, the old version has narrower shoulders - and a longer neck (which would have been separately applied - and slightly crudely). The texture of the glass appears to be missing the necessary fine creases. Other than that...
