The Macallan 30 Year Old Sherry Oak

The Macallan 30 Bottling Note

Macallan 30 Year Old was matured in Spanish oak casks which were handmade and seasoned with sherry in Jerez, Spain.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Oloroso sherry steals the show at that first, sublime wave. The nose is full and well spiced, somewhere an orange peel has been flamed by a cocktail barman. An intense start and it doesn’t end with the nose. The palate is very full. This is certainly Macallan. Intense without being abrasive, with honeyed notes and good texture, at times there are crushed grapes. It is quite clean in the mouth before a well-fruited finish, espresso, a dusting of chocolate.

Macallan 30 Year Old Sherry Oak Reviews

Just managed to buy one of these for Christmas- SO EXCITED!!

The perfect sherried malt!

My wife bought me this for my 30th. I hadn't had many high-end scotches at the time. Needless to say, it set a precedent. I've never had a better sherried whisky since and I don't know if I ever will. Macallan just soaks up the sherry so nicely. It was perfectly balanced in every way. I've had some great wines with perfect balance and a phenomenon happens where you can't place a certain flavor before a new one hits you from some other angle, and every time you come at it again, you get something new. This is the only scotch I've experienced this with (...and by this time I've had a lot). It's truly a wonder.
