Macallan 1973 Bottling Note

This was distilled at the Macallan in 1973, matured in first fill sherry butts and bottled as part of Gordon and MacPhail's Speymalt range.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is rich and full. There are notes of caramelised fruits and Demerara, hints of burnt white sugar and wood smoke with toasty peppered oak. A very subtle peat lies near dormant. The palate is rich and well-balanced. There are notes of calvados and Cox’s Orange Pippin. Barley sugars emerge with malt extract and creamy vanilla, hints of cut flowers and apple blossom emerge. The finish is long and sweet with sultanas and wood smoke.
