A tasty blended Japanese whisky here, Tanjaku is made with corn and barley, and aged in American white oak bourbon barrels. The Japanese characters you can spot on the label translate to "hibari", more commonly known as the skylark. We reckon a Highball will showcase this one very well!
Nose: A faint suggestion of smoke with pear blossom and plump sultana.
Palate: Tinned pears on the palate, with banana bread and thick custard.
Finish: Creamy oak spice and a floral elderflower finish.

I would say this is value for money, but a raw finish - as you would expect.

Smells fragrant with creamy caramel and banana. Taste is mellow with banana slightly dominant. Medium yet fairly harsh finish. Easy enough to drink but there's much better blended scotch and bourbon available at the price.

Out of all the Japanese whiskey I've had, I'd say this is at the bottom of the list. This was the same price as the Suntory Toki where I am at, $30. This is pretty rough compared to Suntory Toki. The initial sip is ok and you get a strong smell of oak but the after taste is quite bitter that it lingers for a while and the more you drink the more off putting it is that it doesn't make you want to drink much. Personally I would avoid this one in the future and stick with Toki if I had to. This will be set into my mixer liquors since I would not sip on this.

After 40 years of collecting and drinking malt whisky and whisky generally I find the reviews on forums more and more entertaining and really quite comical. As much as l am a sucker for age and a nicely packaged bottle aside from the obvious regional variation more particularly Islay much of the rest really is marketing. The older I get the more I am finding myself in the Rebus camp! This is Japanese and is fine quaffable spirit. A green tint at the line, thick custard ....really!??

Having recently been trying various Japanese whiskys I came across this which seemed like a budget option given the £25 price. At first a little sweet but swiftly became smoother on the second tot. If you're interested in trying Japanese whisky but cant afford the Single or Pure malt, it's not a bad place to start...

Sadly this Blend is one of the whiskeyd that brings the mastery finnish of the a classic japanese bkend down. A lot of grain (green tint at the line) and with so few years on the bareel the taste becomes very rough. Smell:Oak,pearsTasteSmall caramel flavour, dry fruits primarly pears and orange peel. This blend hits closer to brittish cheap blenda then the prestige and caliber that is a fine blend from japan. You are better of buying a classic blend from scottland or kanada for the same money as this one. Avoid

The palate and finish wants to satisfy, and you get a sense that there is something agreeable there, but the alcohol is too much. It buries the rest of the flavour.
