For years, Teeling has been collaborating with Irish craft beer maestros Galway Bay Brewery to make the 200 Fathoms Imperial Stout, which matures in Teeling Small Batch barrels. Well, that collaboration has come full circle with the release of Teeling Stout Cask Finish Irish Whiskey! The casks that initially aged Teeling whiskey and then 200 Fathoms Imperial Stout have made their way back to Teeling to be filled with more tasty Irish whiskey for a finishing period of three months. This unique maturation has imparted a wealth of decadent, chocolatey notes from the stout to the whiskey, making this a top choice for indulgent sipping, or even using in an Irish coffee.
Chocolatey and rich, with a light hint of rye spice backing it up.
Creamy caramel and vanilla, with layers of orange and plum.
Chocolate biscuits, more caramel, a subtle jenever-like maltiness.
Not bad. Easy drinking with a drop of water. Well presented in a distinctive bottle. Jameson stout edition tastes better and cheaper
Like any other beer finished blended Irish I've tried, it's not actively unpleasant by any means but it's quite monotone and uninteresting. At this price there's much much better out there.
I was able to buy some of this in Las Vegas at a specialty liquor store set up in the Venetian hotel. It is excellent. I have always been a fan of Teelings regular Irish whisky which I discovered only a few years ago. The Stout is a definite step up. Very smooth and very tasty. I won't analyze it beyond that. I highly recommend it and I will be looking to get some more just as soon as I finish up the two liters that I bought in Vegas.
It's not hugely complex but what's there is very nice. Easy-drinking liquid chocolate fudge. Not sure I'd buy a full bottle but I'd go for another dram
loved it
