Teeling Single Grain

Irish single grain whiskey from Teeling! There are only an elite few Irish single grain whiskies out there at the moment, but Teeling went ahead and made theirs unique by maturing it in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon casks. Deliciously sweet with a good deal of spice and fruit hide within the Teeling Single Grain.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Honeyed apple flesh and red grape, sweet and slightly floral with fragrant vanilla and spice, evaporated milk and brown sugar.

Palate There's treacle on the palate, but it's light and buttery with dried cranberry developing.

Finish Into golden syrup tart and sweet egg custard now with spicy cereal.

Overall This is a thoroughly enjoyable grain whiskey, sweet and fairly light but full of flavour.

Reviews for Teeling Single Grain
Sweet with a little spice
Discovered this on a recent trip to Dublin. It has a lovely syrupy texture; it’s sweet with a spicy finish. A perfect whisky for the fall!

A Very Nice Single Grain Irish Whisky
At first you get the aroma of grapes, I assume from maturing in the Cabernet Sauvignon casks, because then, when you swish it around in your mouth, you get the fruity berry flavours. After swallowing and exhaling through your nose you get the warmth and spiciness, but not too overpowering. Overall, this is a nice Single Grain Irish Whiskey from Teeling. But, I think maybe it would improve if it was left to mature a little longer.

Unusual yet amazing (for me)
Personallly, one of the best whiskeys I've ever had, i love the sweetness and the subtile sourness. Just an unusual flavor and experience, but i love it.

Sweet, Spice but not that nice
Sweet with some spice. A bit rough around the edges probably due to it being rather young. Give your whisky a few more years Teeling. At present it is all a bit rough and not worth the price.

Outstanding, easy to drink, smooth and great to share with my wife
Outstanding single grain whiskey. Smooth and easy to drink. It’s the only whiskey that is smooth enough for my wife to enjoy. She uses it as a wee dram before bed.

Vast improvement
Rich and flavourful, cream, vanilla, shortbread, spice. Massive improvement on the last time I bought it the harsh ethanol note in the mid palate has gone.

The wine cask finish ruined it for me
I like Teeling small batch so I figured this should be worth picking up. Immediately upon smelling this I knew I made a mistake. There's some nice vanilla, honey and biscuit notes hiding behind the strongest, sharpest chemical smell I've ever smelled in a whiskey. My guess would be that it's from the wine cask. It's so overpowering this is basically undrinkable for me. Sorry Teeling I love you but this was a fail try it without the wine cask next time and it would be so much better. The Sugarbear

Beautiful
My wife fell in love with this Irish Whiskey, and it's an understatement when I say that she doesn't love too many whiskies. This is our new go-to!

Very different - you will either love or hate it!
This one I did NOT like.
Way too much going on with conflicting flavours and I found it sickening and hard drinking
Saying that its a good quality whiskey and a good option if you want a smooth whiskey with lots of complex flavours
