Sullivans Cove French Oak Cask

Sullivans Cove French Bottling Note

This Aussie whisky comes from the island state of Tasmania. When they are not being harassed by the Tasmanian devils they produce some of the best whisky being made south of the Equator at this moment. The whisky in this bottle was finished in French Oak Port Casks for a fruity flavour.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Melted dark chocolate and red wine gums open up a big fruity nose. Hints of anise, white pepper and coconut.

Palate: Jelly babies and a little more white pepper dominate the palate entry with cinnamon and a lick of fresh cut grass developing.

Finish: The finish is swift but substantial with fruitcake notes.

Overall: A full-bodied whisky that showcases what the Australians are doing well.

Sullivans Cove French Oak Cask Reviews

I will miss this one.

Onto my last bottle. So much flavour and finesse. I will miss you, sweet lady.

Rare as hen’s teeth now, you must try this absolute nectar one day.

You’ve got to hand it to those Tassies. This is simply sensational.

One of life’s true pleasures

Sullivan’s Cove is a great whisky fit for a king. So smooth on the pallet not to be confused with woody on the nose with a fine double meniscus and all that tripe.
Purchased two bottles from the distillery, being French barrel alongside the second standard bottle. Although expensive I have drunk both bottles over a period of time and can still enjoy the experience.

Very,very well made Whisky.

Paid AU$400 in 2016 and was putting away for a keepsake when one day I thought - 'What the heck, I could be dead tomorrow'! Anyway, I'm here to report that it is being consumed and I am very grateful for the experience. (Neat): A very potent rich aroma but not stinging, soft and gentle on the palate with malt biscuit, chocolate and spice standing out. Finish is long and drying. Worth the money? Horses for courses!

Not worth the money

My neighbour got a bottle as a gift. He opened it for Hogmanay and I was offered a dram. I honestly thought I got a rum! Was ok to drink but I didnt like the aftertaste.

I have a few bottles and it's amazing. Seen some on ebay now for $700 and folk are buying them. I was recently at China Doll in Sydney and one shot was...... $125!
